Memoirs Plus is created to engage and stimulate active, independent seniors with sophisticated cultural, intellectual and creative activities which will enable them to tell their life stories in the form of a memoir book, film, collage, presentation or other media.
If it’s time for you to tell your story, then we’re here to listen to you and put it in book form.
The memoir is a perfect introduction to our services for seniors. It establishes a relationship with the senior and their families and validates the stories we all love to tell.
The Gift of a Lifetime.
Nancy Kessler, former Museum Curator at the Museum of the City of New York and Therapeutic Recreational Director at an independent senior facility and an Alzheimer’s Adult Daycare, has a unique ability to make relationships and offer individualized, personal services with seniors and their families. Future services will include small groupings or individualized programs including discussion groups, speakers, outings to cultural institutions and other excursions.
Nancy Kessler has a passion for working with seniors and started collecting stories at a very young age when she visited her 90+ year old neighbor Mrs. Blanchet several times a week. Between her neighbor, grandparents, and the time travel books she devoured, her interest in oral history and folklore blossomed and she eventually pursued a career in historical museums. After graduating Skidmore College and the Cooperstown Graduate Program, she was a Curator at the Museum of the City of New York. In addition, she was the Therapeutic Recreation Director for Atria Rye brook and Greenwich Adult Daycare. As a Personal Executive Assistant for small multi-million dollar firms, she is also accomplished at assisting with technology applications and education (both PC and MACs), Quickbooks, (bookkeeping and financial reporting), travel arrangements and general office management. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Skidmore College.
